The Solar Man of India Has Launched a Knowledge Platform for the Solar World

Three decades of inventing solar. Now our mentor, Kunwer Sachdev, is giving the knowledge away — to every engineer, founder, and student who wants it.

For most of his career, our mentor kept his knowledge where engineers keep their best work — in patents, in products, and in the heads of the people he trained. Today that changes. Kunwer Sachdev, the man India calls the Solar Man of India, has launched solarmanofindia.com as a special website with a single purpose: to give away what he has spent thirty years learning about solar and power electronics.

Why a website just to give knowledge away?

Anyone who has worked with him knows the answer. He has never treated knowledge as something to hoard. In the early Su-Kam days he would pull apart a failing inverter on the factory floor and explain — to whoever was standing there — exactly why it failed and how to fix it. That instinct built a national dealer network and trained thousands of technicians. This website is the same instinct, scaled to the internet: a place where the lessons behind 77 patents and India's first plastic-body inverter are written down for the next generation.

Who is the mentor behind it

Kunwer Sachdev founded Su-Kam Power Systems in 1998 and grew it into a ₹1,200-crore brand exporting to more than 90 countries. He commercialised solar for ordinary Indian homes — not with demonstrations, but with affordable hybrid PCUs, factories, and a dealer network that reached villages the grid had forgotten. India Today named his plastic-body inverter the "Innovation of the Decade." You can follow the full arc on the Pioneer Timeline and read the complete story of how he got here.

What you'll find on the platform

The site is built as a working knowledge base, not a brochure. The Blog breaks down hard topics — DC-direct solar architecture, LiFePO4 battery life, AI-driven DC microgrids — in plain language. The Library archives 167 product walkthroughs and factory tours recorded over the years. The Patents section traces the inventions themselves. Every claim is tied back to a primary source — a video, a filing, or a published article.

The Library on solarmanofindia.com — archived Su-Kam product videos, TV commercials, how-to explainers and factory tours
The Library — decades of product walkthroughs, ads and factory tours, in one place.

Part of a larger body of work

This platform sits at the centre of a wider network our mentor and his team keep updated. For live product engineering and energy-storage innovation, there is Su-Vastika, where he drives product strategy today. For buyers and installers, InverterIndia offers practical tools like the battery backup calculator. For the deep technical material on lithium and DC solar, see Lithium Inverter. The origin of it all — how one cable-TV entrepreneur rebuilt an entire industry — lives at Inverter Man of India, and his personal reflections on entrepreneurship are at kunwersachdev.com.

The Facebook Archive on solarmanofindia.com — original Su-Kam Solar posts, international events and product launches preserved with timestamps
The Facebook Archive — original posts and launches, preserved as primary-source evidence.

If you build, sell, install, or simply care about solar in India, this site was made for you. Start with the blog, then explore the library. Knowledge, finally, given freely.
