An official department of the Afghan government assigned Su-Kam — in association with the RMA Group — to power communication towers across 17 of the country's 34 provinces with solar, helping build out wireless networks in some of the world's hardest terrain.

The towers ran entirely on solar, with a diesel generator only as standby. Of the 17 sites, 15 were designed for three days of backup and two for five — engineered for places where a single service visit could take weeks.

Impressed by the results, the client extended the project: a second phase took Su-Kam into nine more provinces. The work meant hauling equipment through war-affected, mountainous regions like Kandahar, Khost and Bamiyan — among the most challenging deployments the company ever attempted.

It is one of the clearest demonstrations of how far Su-Kam's ruggedised solar-and-power technology travelled under Kunwer Sachdev — and how much it was trusted.
