A Submersible Solar-Powered Pump Installed in a Gujarat Village
Gujarat
Su-Kam installed a submersible solar-powered pump in a Gujarat village — drawing water for irrigation and daily use on sunlight rather than diesel or an unreliable grid.
Solar water pumping is one of rural India's highest-impact applications: panels drive the pump directly through the sunny hours when water is needed most, cutting fuel costs to zero and freeing farmers from grid timings.
It anticipated exactly the model India's later PM-KUSUM scheme would scale nationally — and showed Su-Kam serving agricultural solar on the ground years earlier, under Kunwer Sachdev.
