70 Lights, 8 Fans, Fridge, TV and Cooler — a 5BHK Home Runs on Solar

Howrah district, West Bengal

Mr. Jishan lives with his family in a two-storey house in West Bengal's Howrah district. It is not a small load: 70 lights, 8 fans, a refrigerator, a television and a cooler. All of it runs on Su-Kam solar.

Powering an entire 5BHK home on solar meant sizing the system to the real load and pairing panels with storage so the house stayed lit and cool regardless of the grid. The family's monthly electricity bill dropped by thousands of rupees.

Installations like this pushed back on a common myth — that solar can only handle a couple of lights and a fan. With the right design, Su-Kam systems carried full households, appliances and all.

It is another entry in Kunwer Sachdev's long record of taking solar from a token gesture to whole-home power for ordinary Indian families.
