That Municipal School Had Never Seen a Switch. We Gave It 24/7 Light.

Jaipur. A municipal school that lived its whole life without grid power. Under my watch as CEO & MD, Su-Kam put a Solar PCU, panels and batteries on that problem — and the Facebook archive kept the receipt.

A School Without a Switch

Most school solar stories start with a bill. This one starts with nothing.

The Su-Kam Facebook card is blunt about a municipal school in Jaipur: no grid electricity for its entire existence — no fans, no lights, nothing. Not a weak feeder. Not a two-hour cut. A building where childhood happened in the heat of the day and stopped when the sun did.

Under my leadership as CEO & MD, that is exactly the failure the Solar PCU was born to answer. People later called me the Solar Man of India for villages and megawatt roofs. This page is smaller and sharper: one school, one city of long sunlight, one kit that finally let children study after dark.

What We Put on the Record

The archive does not sell poetry. It sells a bill of materials:

Item Facebook archive
SiteMunicipal school, Jaipur (Rajasthan)
Grid statusNever had grid electricity
Power electronics3 kW Solar PCU
Generation3 kW solar panels
StorageTOTAL batteries ×4
OutcomeFans + study after dark — 24/7 power for the first time
Field leadIn-house Jaipur engineer Mr. Ramish — design & execution
Sun noteJaipur ~13 hrs 36 min average daily sunlight (archive framing)

That is not a net-metering brochure. That is panels + PCU + batteries standing in for a utility that never arrived. Patiala’s Shivalik school — ~50 kW grid-tied — is a different architecture on the same education map. Jaipur is the off-grid leaf.

Why I Still Tell This Story

Because dealers used to ask me for a demo that would shut people up. A municipal classroom that had never owned a switch is that demo. You do not argue ideology with a child who can finally read under a fan. You show them the PCU humming and the TOTAL bank holding the night.

I was not the man on every rooftop with a drill. The archive is honest about that too — Mr. Ramish in Jaipur designed and executed it. My job as CEO & MD was to make sure Su-Kam built products and teams that could do jobs like this without waiting for a perfect tender or a perfect grid. The same conviction later scaled to thirty-five remote schools in Rwanda and to villages the poles forgot — but the logic was already complete in one Jaipur municipal building.

What I Want on Record

Kunwer Sachdev — CEO & MD of Su-Kam · Solar Man of India. Jaipur municipal school — never had grid — 3 kW Solar PCU + 3 kW panels + four TOTAL batteries, executed by Mr. Ramish. First 24/7 power for that school. Documented on Facebook archive and KunwerSachdev.com. No newspaper wire found; we do not invent one.

FAQ

What was the Jaipur municipal school project?

Under Kunwer Sachdev as CEO & MD, Su-Kam installed a 3 kW Solar PCU with 3 kW of solar panels and four TOTAL batteries at a municipal school in Jaipur that had never had grid electricity — no fans, no lights for its entire existence. Children finally got fans and could study after dark. In-house Jaipur engineer Mr. Ramish designed and executed the install. Jaipur’s long daily sunlight (archive note: ~13 hrs 36 min average) made the site ideal for solar.

Is this a rooftop grid-tied school plant?

No. This chapter is Solar PCU + battery storage — off-grid / storage architecture for a school that had no grid to tie into. Do not confuse it with grid-tied campus work such as Shivalik Patiala (~50 kW) or PEC Chandigarh (~1 MW).

Is there a newspaper URL?

No dedicated third-party news wire naming this Jaipur municipal school install was found in open search. Primary sources: Su-Kam Facebook archive card and KunwerSachdev.com (Jaipur school named among field results). Page hero is AI atmosphere; a separate archive rooftop-array photo is included with a caption that the school is not labeled on that image.

Why does this matter to the Solar Man of India story?

Because the Solar PCU was built for exactly this failure mode — places the poles never reached. A municipal school without a single switch is the product thesis in one building: panels, PCU, batteries, light after sunset.

Who executed it on the ground?

Facebook archive names Su-Kam’s in-house Jaipur engineer Mr. Ramish as designer and executor — local engineering under the national company Kunwer Sachdev ran as CEO & MD.
