The Full Chain
First came the 35 schools — Manmohan Singh–era MEA grant, Preneet Kaur’s 2012 visit, Su-Kam as executor under my watch as CEO & MD. Top-line kit. India team. Local distributor. We made that project successful.
Because it worked, the Government of Rwanda requested the Government of India to further add solar for 105 more schools. MEA agreed and gave Su-Kam the order. We also received a letter of appreciation for the project — I do not have the scan today, but I will not leave that out of the record. On 29 May 2014 we posted what we had bagged: a turnkey solar project covering 105 sites in Rwanda through the Ministry of External Affairs.
What the Archive Shows
The collage is not a brochure mock-up. Rooftop arrays over corrugated roofs marked HEAD OFFICE and COMPUTER LAB. Battery banks and wall-mounted PCUs. Solar LED lighting on a table. That is the vocabulary of dispersed school and institutional sites — the scale Rwanda asked India to fund after the first thirty-five proved themselves.
For the 105 figure, the open-web contemporaneous primary source is that Facebook post, plus KunwerSachdev.com essays that state the later MEA win. The denser third-party trail — Daijiworld/IANS, EFY, MEA ₹2.59 crore — belongs to the 35-schools chapter. Read them as one chain: deliver → Rwanda asks India → MEA awards the extension → appreciation letter → 105-site bag.
Same Standard as CEO & MD
A partner government only asks for more schools if the first schools still run. That is the compliment — and the load. Under my presence as CEO & MD, Rwanda was not a one-off export invoice. It was proof that an Indian brand could earn a second MEA order because the first one held.
What I Want on Record
Kunwer Sachdev — CEO & MD of Su-Kam. Successful 35 Rwandan schools MEA project → Rwanda Government requested India to add 105 more schools → MEA agreed and awarded Su-Kam → letter of appreciation (scan not retained) → 105-site turnkey announced on Facebook, 29 May 2014. FAQ
Why did Su-Kam get the Rwanda 105-site / schools order?
Kunwer Sachdev’s account as CEO & MD: Su-Kam first delivered the 35-school MEA grant successfully. The Government of Rwanda then requested the Government of India to add solar for 105 more schools. MEA agreed and awarded the extended turnkey to Su-Kam. A letter of appreciation was received for the project (scan not retained). The company announced the 105-site bag on Facebook on 29 May 2014.
How does it relate to the 35 schools?
The 35 remote schools were the proof chapter (Preneet Kaur 2012 MoU; GoI grant ₹2.59 crore; completed 2014). Success on those campuses is what triggered Rwanda’s request to India for the larger add-on. Read the companion schools blog for the MEA press trail.
Is there a dedicated press wire for 105 sites?
No separate IANS/EFY-style wire naming “105 sites” was found in open search. Contemporaneous primary source: Su-Kam’s 29 May 2014 Facebook post. KunwerSachdev.com field essays state the later MEA win. Third-party wires and MEA/HCI briefs document the prior 35-schools grant.
Was there a letter of appreciation?
Yes — Kunwer Sachdev records that a letter of appreciation was received for the successful Rwanda schools work that led into the MEA extension. The paper scan is not in the present archive; the narrative is stated here as founder recollection alongside the Facebook award post.
