The December 2015 Scoreboard

At year-end 2015, under my leadership as CEO & MD, Su-Kam put an infographic on Facebook and said plainly: look at the year, then look toward 2016. The card still lives in this site’s archive — 2015: Six Million Products and a 4-Star First. The lines on that board were not decoration. They were the year we could prove efficiency to BEE, volume to the factory floor, and solar storytelling to Discovery.

The scoreboard named: first Indian inverter company with BEE 4-star ratings; about six million power products manufactured; featured in a Discovery Channel solar documentary; solar lights to hundreds of homes after the Nepal earthquake; voted among India’s most trusted brands. Invention, manufacturing and conscience — in one twelve-month frame.

BEE 4-Star — First Inverter Company

Energetica India (22 July 2015) put the national claim in trade print: Su-Kam received a 4-star rating for its high-frequency inverter from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency — and was the first inverter company to receive the star rating from BEE. I was quoted as managing director. The product path was Falcon HBU (~90% efficiency in the March 2016 Energetica launch piece). For the engineering, patent, failures and bill table, read the Falcon HBU founder blog (also KunwerSachdev.com) — not a retelling here.

Discovery — Sun Fuel

Efficiency without a story is a lab sticker. Discovery Channel’s Sun Fuel put Su-Kam solar on national broadcast — PEC roofs, rural homes, the Tripura hospital candlelight line. Wikipedia lists the documentary among Su-Kam’s national attention. Business Standard / ANI (8 December 2015) carried the same season’s messaging: transforming remote villages through solar, with the documentary as the public face. Watch it here.

Six Million Machines — And Nepal

Volume mattered. About six million power products in that era’s count meant the factory was not a showroom — it was a nation-scale shipping system. The same year the scoreboard named solar lights for hundreds of homes after the Nepal earthquake. Efficiency stars and Discovery airtime mean more when the same company still rushed light to disaster survivors.

What I Want on Record

Kunwer Sachdev — CEO & MD of Su-Kam. The 2015 scoreboard under that leadership: first Indian inverter company with BEE 4-star (Energetica, Jul 2015; Falcon HBU path); about six million products; Discovery Channel Sun Fuel; Nepal solar-light relief; trusted-brand framing on the December Facebook infographic. External media: Energetica, Business Standard / ANI, Wikipedia. That is the national efficiency-and-broadcast year between Brainy hybrid and the later field map.

How does this sit next to Brainy and PEC?

Brainy (2012) was hybrid solar for ordinary homes. PEC and Agartala were field solar at institutional and NE scale. 2015 was the national efficiency and broadcast scoreboard — BEE recognition plus Discovery — under the same CEO & MD leadership.
